The metal-toothed pad is an innovative threaded fastener designed to prevent loosening. It comes in two versions: standard and anti-loose. Manufactured from high-strength, precision-cut cold-rolled diamond-shaped stainless steel wire, it features a spring-like internal and external thread structure. The anti-loose version includes one or more locking rings, enhancing its performance. When embedded into metal or non-metallic materials, it creates a durable, wear-resistant, interchangeable internal thread. This component is ideal for use on steel and cast iron, improving the longevity of screw holes, preventing thread loosening caused by vibration, fatigue, and increasing the overall strength of threaded connections.
When considering the impeller nut seal, it must be capable of withstanding both the axial compression force and the rotational torque during sealing and auxiliary locking. To evaluate this, we examine several common impeller designs from the installation perspective, analyzing the pros and cons of different materials and their sealing functions.
1. Asbestos board gaskets are resistant to high temperatures and corrosion, offering good sealing performance. However, they are toxic and unsuitable for food-related applications. In China, there has been a recommendation to gradually phase out asbestos-based materials from the sealing industry due to health concerns.
2. PTFE flat gaskets can handle high temperatures and corrosive media, with decent sealing properties. However, under axial pressure and rotational torque, they tend to slip outward, losing their effectiveness over time.
3. Fluororubber gaskets are also resistant to heat and corrosion and can withstand axial forces. However, they are not suitable for rotational torque, making them prone to damage.
4. Corrosion-resistant metal-toothed pads offer good resistance to high temperature and corrosion, along with some locking and anti-loose capabilities. They can bear axial pressure but have limited anti-loose performance compared to other options.
5. Metal-toothed graphite pads provide excellent heat and corrosion resistance, along with good sealing. They can handle axial forces but are vulnerable to rotational torque, as graphite may flake off easily.
6. Corrosion-resistant metal-toothed pads combined with corrosion-resistant wire screw sleeves offer superior performance. They resist high temperature and corrosion, manage both axial and rotational forces, and provide strong locking and anti-loose abilities.
The metal-toothed pad is highly effective in high-temperature environments, offering reliable sealing, some locking capability, and the ability to withstand both axial and rotational forces. When paired with a wire screw sleeve, it prevents corrosion of the pump shaft and reduces the risk of the impeller nut loosening due to vibration. This combination ensures a safe and stable system, especially in high-temperature conditions.
After extensive field testing, it was confirmed that using a metal-toothed pad with a wire screw sleeve in high-temperature chemical pumps effectively addressed four key issues: structural function, installation process, material selection, and safety reliability. The solution provided excellent results in terms of sealing, locking, and anti-loose performance between the impeller nut, pump shaft, seal, and impeller. The system proved to be highly effective and reliable in real-world applications.
