Large-scale preparation of graphene material proved feasible
Graphene is a tougher material than carbon fiber and has great commercial potential, but so far, researchers have only used it in a small area and cannot be used on a large scale. A preparation method demonstrated by researchers of the US Department of Energy Oak Ridge National Laboratory can overcome the obstacles in the application of graphene commercial scale.
According to Oak Ridge National Laboratory's official website, the research team led by Ivan Varasok has prepared a 2-inch square monoatomic-thickness carbon composite that eliminates the problem of graphene sheet agglomeration and can be used in polymers. The nanocomposite structure of most polymers will fuse small pieces of graphene or other carbon nanomaterials because they are difficult to disperse uniformly in the polymer.
