Maintenance of the electric drum of the conveyor

Under normal operating conditions, the electric drum should undergo maintenance once a year to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The following steps are recommended for proper servicing:
First, drain the existing lubricating oil from the drum through the oil drain hole located on the left end cover. This helps remove any contaminants and old grease that may have accumulated over time.
Next, disassemble the drum carefully. Begin by removing the junction box on the left flange shaft end and the bolts securing the left end cap. Then, loosen and remove the right end cap bolt and the right bracket. Use the lifting ring attached to the right flange shaft to lift it safely and securely.

After disassembly, clean all internal components thoroughly, including the inner walls of the drum. Use a suitable cleaning agent and ensure all parts are free from dirt, debris, and old grease.
Once cleaned, re-grease each bearing with high-quality calcium-sodium-based grease. This includes all six motor bearings, ensuring they are well-lubricated to reduce friction and wear.
Replace the seals and oil seals on both the motor and the drum body. The new seals must be intact, smooth, and round without any imperfections such as bumps, dents, or wrinkles. They should be made from oil-resistant rubber to ensure long-term durability.
Check the insulation resistance between the motor windings and the casing, as well as between the windings themselves. The resistance should be at least 5 megohms. If it falls below this level, the motor should be dipped in insulating varnish and dried properly.
Inspect the condition of each bearing, backstop, and gear for signs of wear. Replace any damaged or worn-out components to prevent further damage and maintain system efficiency.
Reassemble the drum following the reverse order of disassembly. It is advisable to have a trained technician oversee the process to ensure everything is put back correctly and securely.
Finally, refill the drum with new N46 oil until the oil level reaches one-third of the drum's diameter. This ensures proper lubrication and cooling of the internal components.
Regular maintenance not only extends the life of the electric drum but also improves its reliability and performance, reducing the risk of unexpected failures. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines and use the correct tools and materials during the process.
