Phenolic resin is often preferred over urea-formaldehyde due to better bonding, though it is more expensive. 4. **Aging** – After gluing, the mats are left to age, allowing the adhesive to fully penetrate the bamboo fibers before hot pressing. 5. **Blanking** – Bamboo plywood can be produced with odd or even layer structures, and the weave direction should be staggered to ensure stability and strength. 6. **Hot Pressing** – The temperature and pressure depend on the type of adhesive and the number of layers. For urea-formaldehyde glue, the temperature ranges from 120°C to 125°C, while phenolic glue requires 130°C to 140°C. Pressure is typically between 2.5 MPa and 4 MPa, with longer pressing times for thicker panels. Today, bamboo mat plywood is one of the fastest-growing types of bamboo-based panels in China. It is widely used as a building formwork, replacing traditional wood and steel molds. Its advantages include high strength, smooth surface, easy demolding, water and heat resistance, and long service life.
