Static pressure roller

It is suitable for various compaction operations by the gravity of the machine itself, so that the pressed layer is permanently deformed and compacted. It is divided into two types: steel wheel type and tire type.

Steel wheel roller

The roller structure is light mill, groove mill and sheep foot mill. Light mill applications are the most common and are mainly used for paving surface laminates. It adopts mechanical or hydraulic transmission, which can concentrate the compaction of the protruding part, and has high compactness and flatness, which is suitable for asphalt pavement compaction operation.

According to the axle, there are single-axis single-wheel, double-shaft two-wheel, two-axis three-wheel and three-axis three-wheel. Powered by internal combustion engines, mechanical transmission or hydraulic transmission. Generally front wheel steering, good maneuverability, rear wheel drive. To improve steering and rolling performance, an articulated steering structure and all-wheel drive are preferred. The front wheel frame and the frame are hinged to reduce the body swing when the road surface is not flat. The rear wheels and the frame are rigidly coupled. Hydraulically operated, hydraulic cylinders are used to control steering. The front and rear drums are equipped with scrapers to remove the bond on the drum. It is also equipped with a water spray system for sprinkling water on the drum to prevent the asphalt mixture from adhering. In order to increase the force, iron, sand, water, etc. can be added to the drum to increase the pressure.

The main technical parameters of the steel wheel compactor are the machine weight and the line pressure. In the 1980s, the weight range of various steel wheel compactors was about 2 to 13 tons for two-wheel road rollers and 1 to 15 tons for three-wheel road rollers. It can be pressurized by 1 to 3 tons as required, and 13 to 14 tons for three-axis three-wheel road rollers. The pressure is 18 to 19 tons.

Tire roller

The drum is made of pneumatic tires, usually with 3 to 5 front wheels and 4 to 6 rear wheels. If the inflation pressure is changed, the grounding pressure can be changed, and the pressure adjustment range is 0.11 to 1.05 MPa. The tire roller adopts hydraulic, hydraulic or mechanical transmission system, single-axis or full-shaft drive, and the wide-base tire articulated frame structure supports the three points. The compaction process has a smashing effect, so that the compacted layer particles are embedded without being damaged, and are evenly compacted. It has good maneuverability and fast speed (up to 25 km/h). It is used for compaction of engineering cushions such as roads and airports.
