Rapid development of RFID industry in Shanghai ranked first in China
On the eve of the 2010 World Expo, Shanghai officially launched the "Shanghai Action Plan for Promoting the Development of the Internet of Things Industry (2010-2012)", and the RFID industry began to develop rapidly.
The Internet of Things system can be divided into three levels: the perception layer, the transport layer, and the intelligent application layer. At that time, a survey showed that: Shanghai's RFID industry chain has been relatively sound, with high technology advantages in its high-end. In 2009, the annual sales volume of the Shanghai RFID industry reached 2.09 billion yuan, accounting for about 19% of the annual sales volume of the national RFID industry. Among them, label sales accounted for 57%, reader sales accounted for 30%, and software and middleware sales accounted for 12%. Compared with the entire country, more than half of Shanghai's RFID industry’s sales are obtained through label products, and more than 95% of domestic RFID electronic label chips are manufactured and processed by IC factories in Shanghai.
By 2011, the Shanghai RFID industry has occupied one-third of the national market. According to the 6th China International Conference on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Technology Development, the current scale of RFID industry in Shanghai has ranked first in China. In 2011, sales revenue reached 5.24 billion yuan, accounting for 1/3 of the country's total. It is estimated that by 2015, The sales scale will exceed 25.8 billion yuan.
