In a small, neatly arranged space with dimensions of 255px by 255px and a margin of 15px on all sides, the idea of using wallpaper as a decorative choice is often discussed. Many people are drawn to it because it’s easy to change, offers a wide range of patterns, and can be customized in material and design. These factors have made it a popular option for home decoration.
However, according to Zhu Bin, the Director of the Hubei District Planning Office, there are some concerns about its environmental impact. "During the installation process, wallpaper is first coated with varnish and then glued onto the wall," he explained. "This process can lead to the release of formaldehyde, which lingers in the house for a long time." In addition, he noted that wallpaper tends to be more expensive, making it unsuitable for full coverage in many cases.
As the focus on "environmental protection" and "energy efficiency" continues to grow across various industries, more consumers are prioritizing eco-friendly options in their home decor. Compared to paint, wallpaper is often seen as less environmentally friendly. But where exactly does this pollution come from?
"Some high-end wallpapers are indeed eco-friendly," said an official from China Resources Paint. "But lower-quality products may pose serious risks." According to him, wallpapers are generally divided into three types: pure paper wallpaper, which is the most premium but also the most expensive; PVC wallpaper, which makes up around 90% of the market today; and PVD wallpaper, another common type.
He explained that PVC wallpaper requires printing, which involves the use of formaldehyde. This means that controlling formaldehyde levels is essential. While latex paints typically have very low or even zero formaldehyde content, wallpaper cannot avoid it due to the printing process. Many patterns are printed and then coated to create the final look, making latex paint a better environmental choice overall.
Moreover, to enhance the durability of wallpaper, manufacturers often add coatings that reduce breathability and increase sealing. This can cause problems such as trapped moisture, leading to poor adhesion between the wallpaper and the wall. Unlike latex paint, which has strict standards for moisture content (usually no more than 9.5%), wallpaper lacks such guidelines. Additionally, latex paint must match the alkalinity of the wall surface, while wallpaper doesn’t have this requirement.
Although not all paints are completely eco-friendly, they are generally considered a better option than wallpaper. In the Jiangcheng coating market, latex paint accounts for about 70% of demand. Even the 2008 Beijing Olympic venues opted for Carpoly paint instead of wallpaper, reinforcing the perception that paint is more environmentally friendly.
In traditional thinking, paint remains the top choice for home decoration, while wallpaper appeals more to younger, fashion-conscious families.
Regulating Valve
Regulating valve is a fluid control device, it can control fluid flow, pressure, temperature and other parameters, in order to achieve the purpose of regulating fluid flow characteristics. It is composed of a piston or ball spool, in which there is a manual or electric mechanism with adjustment function, it can control the position of the piston or ball spool, so as to change the pressure and flow rate in the valve, so as to adjust the flow characteristics of the fluid.
The main function of the regulating valve is to adjust the flow rate, pressure and temperature, so that the fluid flow characteristics are more stable, so as to improve the efficiency of the fluid. It can regulate the flow of fluid to keep it at a low level, thus saving energy; The pressure of the fluid can also be adjusted to keep it at a low level, thus reducing noise in the piping system; The temperature of the fluid can also be adjusted to keep it at a low level, thus preventing condensation in the piping system, etc.
