Quanzhou stone imports surpassed the national 30% ranking second

Abstract The reporter recently learned that in 2012, the Quanzhou Shihu operational area imported a total of 1,241,700 tons of stone, valued at 178 million US dollars. This marked a significant increase of 29.93% in volume and 24.05% in value compared to previous years, setting a new record high. Quanzhou's stone imports accounted for over 30% of the national total, placing it second in the country. This strong import activity has provided a solid raw material foundation for the development of the local stone industry cluster. It is reported that with the support of various economic policies, numerous domestic projects were launched, leading to a surge in demand for construction materials. Since last July, the market for stone supply has been experiencing steady growth. As China's largest stone processing base, the Nan'an Shuitou block area has seen a continuous rise in import volumes. Stone production in the region accounts for 50% of the national total, and its products hold a 70% market share across the country. As one of the most important import and distribution centers in China, the Shihu operational area has made significant progress. Currently, Yard No. 4 has been officially opened, and advanced loading and unloading equipment has been introduced. This has helped establish a large-scale stone logistics and trading market, further strengthening the region’s role in the national stone industry.
