Quanzhou stone imports surpassed the national 30% ranking second

Abstract The reporter recently learned that in 2012, the Quanzhou Shihu operation area imported a total of 1,241,700 tons of stone, valued at 178 million U.S. dollars. This marked a significant increase of 29.93% in volume and 24.05% in value compared to the previous year, setting a new record high. Quanzhou's stone imports accounted for more than 30% of the national total, placing it second in the country and playing a crucial role in supporting the growth of the local stone industry cluster.

According to sources, the surge in demand was driven by a series of government economic policies that spurred numerous domestic projects. Since July of the previous year, the market for stone supply had been steadily expanding. As China's largest stone processing base, the Nan'an Shuitou block import volume continued to rise. Stone production in the region accounted for 50% of the national output, while its products captured 70% of the national market share.

As one of the most important import and distribution centers in the country, the Shihu operation area has made substantial progress. Recently, Yard No. 4 was officially opened, and advanced loading and unloading equipment were introduced. These developments have helped establish a large-scale stone logistics and trading market, further enhancing the region's position as a key player in the national stone industry.
