Aspects to pay attention to in summer decoration

Wood Pre-Treatment

During autumn, the climate tends to be dry, and once wood is brought into the renovation site, it should be kept away from vents and sealed as soon as possible. If wood is left in a ventilated area, it may lose moisture rapidly, leading to cracks and warping on its surface. In autumn renovations, high-quality veneers like eucalyptus should also be sealed to retain their moisture. The same applies to wood edging used in furniture—especially since solid wood edges tend to have higher moisture content than veneer. If they lose moisture, they may shrink or warp, which can damage the appearance of the finished product. Additionally, when maintaining furniture, avoid direct sunlight, keep the environment moist, and regularly wax the surfaces to prevent scratches and other damages.

Let the Wallpaper "Drink"

Wallpapers and wall coverings need protection from excessive drying. Nowadays, many homes use paint or wallpaper for decoration, and the usage of wallpapers is increasing. In summer, with high humidity, it's easier to handle—after installation, just open windows to help the walls dry quickly. However, in autumn, due to the drier air, extra care is needed. Before applying wallpaper, it's important to soak the paper first, then apply the paste. After installation, don’t open the windows immediately as you would in summer, because the fresh wallpaper could dry too fast, leading to peeling or deformation. Instead, let it dry naturally in the room to maintain its integrity and appearance.

Give Your Home a "Moisturizing" Treatment

Seasonal changes often bring about lower humidity, especially during the transition from autumn to winter. This can cause wooden floors to shrink, increasing gaps between floorboards, and walls and door frames to develop spaces due to different shrinking rates. Moisturizing your home not only helps reduce these issues but also improves indoor air quality and comfort. A simple way to increase humidity is by placing a basin of water in the room. For a more aesthetic touch, consider adding some green plants like spider plants, tiger tail orchids, aloe vera, ivy, or agave. These plants release oxygen, absorb harmful substances like formaldehyde, and help regulate indoor humidity. You can also use a humidifier to maintain optimal moisture levels, making your living space feel more comfortable. Adding a bit of essential oil or air freshener to the humidifier can enhance the atmosphere, giving your home a pleasant and refreshing scent.
