The internal and external inspections are conducted at least once every three years, and the comprehensive inspection is carried out at least once every six years. If the tank has been in use for 15 years, it should be tested every two years. If the period of use has reached 20 years, it should be tested at least once a year. After regular inspection of the storage tanks, the inspection personnel shall submit an inspection report indicating whether the storage tanks can continue to be used or that special monitoring measures are required. The inspection report shall be deposited in the tank technical file.
When there are corrosion phenomena on the inner and outer surfaces of steel-lined plastic storage tanks, multiple wall thickness measurements shall be made for suspected parts. If the measured wall thickness is less than the minimum wall thickness of the design, the strength verification should be repeated and recommendations for continued use and maximum working pressure can be proposed. When there are defects such as decarburization, stress corrosion, intergranular corrosion and fatigue crack on the inner wall of the tank, metallographic examination and surface hardness measurement shall be carried out, and an inspection report shall be submitted.
