Thrust needle roller bearings are composed of a raceway ring, needle rollers, and a cage assembly. They can be combined with thin stamped rings (W) or thick machined rings (WS). These bearings typically feature a finely stamped raceway ring along with needle rollers and a supporting cage. The integral design allows the bearing to handle unidirectional axial loads. One key advantage of this type of bearing is its compact structure, making it ideal for applications where space is limited. The frame is usually made from steel stamping or synthetic resin molding, ensuring durability and reliability. These bearings are widely used in automotive systems, agricultural machinery, and machine tools. They are equipped with truncated rollers that have a spherical surface at the larger end. The roller is precisely guided by the edge of the raceway (shaft or housing), allowing for smooth rotation. The one-way version is designed to support axial loads in a single direction, while the two-way version can handle loads in both directions. In the case of the two-way bearing, a central ring is used in conjunction with the shaft, requiring an axial positioning method such as a sleeve to maintain stability. Copper alloy-cut thrust bearings are primarily used in heavy-duty applications. For example, the unidirectional type is commonly found in crane hooks and oil rig rotary tables, while the bidirectional version is suitable for rolling mill rolls. Spherical roller thrust bearings feature obliquely arranged spherical rollers, with a spherical raceway surface that provides self-aligning capabilities. This allows them to accommodate significant misalignment and handle large axial loads. Additionally, they can also withstand radial loads when operating under axial load conditions. Applications of copper alloy-cut bearings include hydroelectric generators, vertical motors, ship propeller shafts, rolling mill screw reducers, tower cranes, coal mills, extruders, and forming machines.
