Gas fertilizer use precautions

Experiments conducted by American scientists have revealed that carbon dioxide (CO₂) gas fertilizers are most effective during the vigorous and mature stages of crop growth. Applying CO₂ fertilizer during these critical periods can significantly boost agricultural yields—by as much as 90% for vegetables, 70% for rice, and 60% for soybeans. Currently, two primary methods are widely used to apply CO₂ fertilizers: combustion-based systems and chemical reaction-based techniques. These methods are generally easy to implement, as they can be burned directly, hung near plants, or buried in the soil. However, it's crucial to use them correctly to maximize benefits and avoid potential risks. First, it's essential to apply CO₂ fertilizer during the active growth and maturity phases of crops. At the same time, proper management of water and other fertilizers should be maintained to ensure balanced plant development. Second, it's best to apply the fertilizer on clear, windless days. In early spring, it’s recommended to start spraying about half an hour after the greenhouse curtain is opened, and then seal the greenhouse afterward to prevent the CO₂ from escaping. Third, if using the combustion method, it's important to ensure complete burning of the fuel to avoid the release of harmful gases like carbon monoxide. Lastly, the amount of CO₂ fertilizer applied should be carefully controlled. More isn’t always better—excessive application may not enhance plant growth further and could lead to waste, increasing production costs unnecessarily. By following these guidelines, farmers can effectively utilize CO₂ gas fertilizers to improve crop productivity while maintaining environmental and economic efficiency.
