Kitchen decoration is easy to ignore the details of several hidden dangers analysis
The kitchen is one of the most high-traffic and easily soiled areas in a home. Proper decoration is essential to ensure both functionality and aesthetics. However, during the renovation process, several critical details are often overlooked. Are you aware of these important aspects?
One of the key components in any renovation is the hidden work, which includes plumbing, electrical wiring, floor base preparation, and partition walls. Among these, plumbing is especially crucial. While it may seem like a behind-the-scenes task for the contractor, it directly impacts your safety and the longevity of your home.
1. Plumbing Concealed Work
Is the water pipe leakage-free?
When installing PP-R pipes, the layout should be carefully planned—horizontal and vertical placements are necessary. The pipes should not be too close to electrical lines, maintaining at least a 2 cm distance. Connections with fixtures must be tight, and a water test should be conducted to ensure no leaks after installation.
Is the floor drainage working properly?
In kitchens and bathrooms, proper drainage is vital. The floor should have a slight slope (around 2%) to guide water towards the drain. However, avoid over-sloping, as this can affect both the visual appeal and slip resistance of the surface.
Is the waterproofing layer effective?
Kitchens and bathrooms require higher waterproofing standards. The waterproof coating should be applied up to 1.8 meters on walls, while other rooms only need 0.3 meters. This prevents moisture from seeping into the structure and causing long-term damage.
2. Electrical and Pipeline Work
Are the PVC pipe connections secure?
All electrical cables that are buried in walls, ceilings, or floors must be protected by PVC pipes. These pipes should not be bent or kinked. For bends, use appropriate tools or elbows to maintain smooth flow and prevent damage.
PVC Pipe Protection
After laying the electrical conduits, place wooden boards on either side of the PVC pipes or cover them with cement mortar to protect them from being damaged during construction. Keep strong and weak electricity cables at least 50 cm apart to reduce electromagnetic interference and enhance safety.
3. Floor Base Preparation
A key part of the foundation is the cement leveling layer. The original floor should be leveled with cement mortar, and the kitchen and bathroom should have a specific slope. This slope is crucial for efficient drainage and must be carefully measured.
Lastly, the base of the partition walls is also important. First, check if the walls are made of red bricks or cement fiberboards. In many cases, the kitchen and bathroom walls must be constructed with red bricks, with an inspection port reserved for future maintenance. The size of the opening should match the actual dimensions for easy access. Second, ensure that the cement is properly applied to increase the adhesion between tiles and the wall, making the tiling more durable and secure.
