1CBN-2XLB CBN long neck ball end mill

It is hoped that the CBN end mill will have two major properties: 1 It can stably process high-hardness materials that can be processed but have a short tool life. In 2005, the company produced and sold coated carbide end mills capable of processing high hardness materials of HRC60 or higher and exceeding the original tool. But users need longer CBN end mills. 2 It can finish milling and processing materials such as hard steel for a long time. Especially when finishing with a small-diameter end mill, the cutting length becomes longer due to the smaller tool diameter, and it is often necessary to use several tools when machining with the original carbide end mill. In response to these performance requirements, the CBN-2XLB CBN long-neck ball end mill was developed.

(1) Milling cutter features

The body of CBN-2XLB CBN long-neck ball end mill is made of cemented carbide, and the tool holder and cutting edge are made of CBN material. Since the end milling process is interrupted cutting, CBN materials with high strength and strong intermittent cutting performance should be selected. In order to obtain a high-quality finished surface, chip removal is critical. The cutting edge of the milling cutter has a large enough chip pocket to prevent damage to the machined surface due to chip biting; all cutting edges are negatively chamfered, which improves cutting edge strength and chipping resistance; R precision Up to ±5μm, the connection between the ball-end cutting edge and the outer-circle cutting edge is smooth and seamless, and high-precision milling can be realized. (3) Comparison of finishing surfaces of processed NAK80 self-hardening steel

When machining NAK80 self-hardening steel with CBN-2XLB end mill and carbide end mill (speed: 40000r/min; feed rate: 4000mm/min; cutting fluid: oil mist), machining after milling length reaches 2000m The situation shows that the difference in wear between the two end mills is reduced compared to when milling SKD11 (HRC60), which indicates that the milling length of carbide end mills can reach more than 2000m. However, from the shape of the machined surface after milling 2000m, the tool mark of the CBN-2XLB end mill is equivalent to the cutting edge feed, and the machined surface of the carbide end mill is not clear, and even produced Cutting and cracking. It can be seen that the CBN-2XLB type has excellent wear resistance and can maintain a stable finishing surface for a long time when processing self-hardening steel such as NAK80, which is unattended for a long time when processing a large plane with a tool. 2VC-2PSB-P high precision ball end mill

(1) High precision blade shape

The VC-2PSB high-precision carbide ball end mills, which the company began selling in 2003, have an R accuracy of ±5 μm. In recent years, in order to meet the demand for higher precision ball end mills, the VC-2PSB-P ball end mill has been developed with an R accuracy of ±2 μm, which is the world's highest precision. Its size ranges from R0.05-R6mm to 23 specifications. The design of the end mill places great emphasis on the cutting performance of the cutting edge shape. The cutting speed near the center of the tip end of a general ball end mill is very low, and the cutting edge does not cut the workpiece but squeezes the workpiece material, thereby causing a chipping defect, so that it is difficult to obtain a high-quality machined surface. The VC-2PSB-P type improves the shape of the cutting edge of the center part, achieving good cutting performance from the ball cutting edge to the center. In addition, the connection between the R-blade and the outer-circular cutting edge is smooth and seamless, thereby preventing the occurrence of unevenness of the finished surface.

(2) Excellent processing surface is available

After milling the SKD61 (HRC52) hardened steel mold with VC-2PSB-P type (R3mm) for 50m, it can be seen that the cutting marks are clearly visible and periodically fed on the finishing surface; in contrast, the original end milling cutter is finished milling. The back surface is not clear due to the chipping defects of the cutting edge.
