Mitsubishi Materials Tool (Headquarters: Tokyo) has launched the "AOX445" (pictured) replaceable tool for gray cast iron machining. A blade made of CBN (polycrystalline cubic boron nitride) can be processed at a speed of 1000 m/min or more.
Gray cast iron is excellent in durability and vibration absorption characteristics, and is widely used in cylinder blocks of diesel engines and various mechanical casings, and requires high speed and high efficiency processing to reduce costs. Therefore, the new product's insert uses the newly developed cBN coating material “BC5030â€. The material has high defect resistance and wear resistance, and can cut up to 8mm. And it can be mounted with high precision without blade runout adjustment. The mechanism can also perform rough and semi-finishing at the same time with the same tool.
The inserts have a shape that can be used on both sides and multiple corners, which increases machining efficiency while reducing costs. When cutting 3mm or less, 16 angles can be used, and when cutting 8mm or less, 8 angles can be used.
In terms of the price of the blade, one model of "SL-ONEN 120404ASN (BC5030)" having an inscribed circle diameter of 12.7 mm and a thickness of 4.76 mm is 30,000,559 yen (including tax). For the shank, the 3-blade shank "AOX445R503S32" is 80,850 yen (including tax), and the 8-blade-type "AOX445R10008D" is 134,400 yen (tax included).
