Wall Painting Tips: Preparation is Key

Before starting the painting process, make sure to properly protect all door and window frames, furniture, and paint joints. Use color separation paper or masking tape to cover these areas. For wooden cabinets and partitions, wrap them with newspaper to prevent paint drips from staining the surfaces.

When selecting paint colors, ensure that you calculate the required amount accurately. It's important to have enough paint on hand to maintain a consistent finish across the entire wall. Avoid mixing different batches of paint during the job, as this can lead to uneven color tones.

Applying a primer is essential before painting. A good primer helps the top coat adhere better, ensures an even color, and prevents moisture from seeping through. It also helps in hiding any water stains on wooden boards, giving a cleaner and more professional look.

Pay attention to the details during the painting process. Don’t rush—small mistakes can affect the overall appearance. Make sure every corner and edge is covered properly.

For roller painting, follow the correct sequence: start with the ceiling, then the moldings, and finally the walls. Apply at least two coats of paint. The first coat can be diluted with 5–10% water to help it absorb into the wall better. The second coat should be applied without water, and allow some time between coats for proper drying.

When using a roller, use two types of brushes: a coarse one first and a fine one afterward. Begin by spreading the paint evenly with the thick roller, then go over the area with the fine roller to smooth out the texture and create a more refined finish. Be careful not to overload the roller with too much paint. Keep the pressure steady and the rolling speed moderate. Make sure to roll in all directions—horizontal, vertical, and diagonal—to achieve an even coverage.
