Wall Painting Tips: Preparation is Key

Before starting the painting process, it's essential to properly protect all doors, windows, and furniture. Use color separation paper or masking tape to cover the frames and edges of the walls. For wooden cabinets and partitions, wrap them with newspapers to prevent paint drips from damaging the surfaces.

When selecting paint colors for walls, make sure to calculate the required amount accurately. It’s important to have all the materials ready at once to ensure a consistent finish and avoid mixing different batches of paint.

A good primer application is crucial before painting. Priming helps the wall absorb the paint evenly, prevents moisture issues, and stops water stains from showing through on wooden boards.

Pay attention to the details during the painting process. Avoid making the brush strokes too small or uneven, as this can lead to an unprofessional look.

For roller painting, follow a logical sequence: start with the ceiling, then the moldings, and finally the walls. Apply the topcoat in at least two coats. The first coat can be diluted with 5-10% water to help the wall absorb it better, while the second coat should be applied without water. Allow sufficient drying time between each coat.

When using a roller, it's recommended to use two types of brushes. Start with a coarse roller to spread the paint evenly, then follow up with a fine roller to smooth out any texture and achieve a more refined finish. Be careful not to overload the roller with paint, and maintain even pressure and a steady pace. Make sure to roll in all directions—horizontal, vertical, and diagonal—to ensure full coverage and a professional appearance.
