China's power demand growth will pick up during peak summer

The forecast shows that China's national power demand growth will pick up during the summer peak season. In most regions, the balance between supply and demand is basically balanced. In some areas, the balance is tight during peak hours, and the pressure on hydropower in the southwest is higher.

An analysis from the National Grid of China shows that China's macro economy has maintained steady growth this year, and its GDP in the first quarter has increased by 7.7% year-on-year. It is expected that the temperature in most areas of the country will be higher than usual this year, and the demand for electricity in the entire society will increase significantly. The power supply and demand situation in its business area is generally balanced but the distribution of surplus and surplus is uneven.

According to the report, the transmission capacity between the northwest and northeastern power grids and the “Three Chinas” power grid is still limited this summer, with a total of 36 million kilowatts of surplus power in the northwest, northeast, and west of the Mengxi power grid, which cannot be delivered to the “Sanhua” power grid. At the same time, during the summer peak season, the Sichuan-Chongqing exchanges, Debao, Fufeng, Jinsu DC and other outbound channels and near-area power grids are all fully delivered, and there will be greater pressure on the delivery and consumption of Sichuan hydropower.

China Southern Power Grid also predicts that the power consumption in the five southern provinces will enter a relatively flat period of growth in 2013 and there will be more power balance. In the flood season, hydropower consumption is under greater pressure.

The National Development and Reform Commission recently pointed out that during 2013 when the country's electric power work at peak summer, it pointed out that in order to solve the problems existing in the electric power operation this year, we must do a good job in all aspects of the peak season.
